(( digital strategist, video producer, journalist ))
Much as the cobbler's children have no shoes, I've been so focused on building other websites that my own site needs some design love. Stay tuned for a brand new jamesmurdock.com in January, 2016. In the meantime, please check out these highlights from my career:
Director of Digital Strategies, Carnegie Corporation of New York Among the oldest and most esteemed philanthropies, Carnegie Corporation of New York takes as its mission the diffusion of knowledge. I managed its website, which I overhauled from top to bottom, as well as built digital tools to amplify grantee voices and collaboration.
Board Secretary, The FilmShop The FilmShop is a group of independent filmmakers that, through collaboration, assists its members in the creation of film projects—from scriptwriting and filming, to funding and distribution. As board secretary of this nonprofit 501(c)3 organization, I help strategize ways to raise funds, grow the organization, and sustain its future.
Director of Multimedia Content, The New York Public Library I led a team of storytellers versed in audio production, video work, photography, and web design. We crafted compelling narratives and award winning mobile apps that drew from the collections, staff expertise and patron experiences at The New York Public Library.
News Editor, Architectural Record As news editor of this leading architectural journal, I successfully ramped up online news production, making its website—and not the print version of the magazine—the place where news broke first. My blogs were among its most read; I launched a weekly news podcast; and one of my videos for the site was recognized with a Neal Award, the business-to-business world's top publishing honor.
